Summary: Shakugan no Shana story about Sakai Yuji is a normal high school student who wishes for a normal life to last forever, this wish is quickly broken down while he is on his way home from school. Suddenly the world around him froze, time stopped. He panicked when a monster appeared and sucked everyone around into its mouth, and when it was about to attack Yuji, a girl with fiery eyes and hair appearing, destroying the wager quickly. Then Yuji was told strangely by her that he was dead, and now he is actually just a temporary status and will quickly disappear, being called Torch. She calls herself a Flame Haze who hunts "Guze no Tomogara"; intruders from another world. She explains to him that he is a "Torch", a substitute of Yuji whose “existence” has already been devoured. Yuji does not accept the fact that he was No longer exists, he wants to reject the little girl's claim that he is just a Torch. Yuji decided to call her Shana from now on based on the name of her sword holding Nietono no Shana, and made the girl call herself Sakai Yuji instead of "Torch".
