Summary: Darker Than Black. It's been 10 years since the Heaven Gate appeared in South America and the Hell Gate appeared in Japan. They turn the familiar night sky into an artificial starry sky. For the unknown purpose, these gates are places where space exists where the laws of physics are ignored. With the appearance of these gates, who are called Contractors, each contractor is an entity of a fake star in the sky. They exchange their personality, to be endowed with super powers. And after each use power they have to perform meaningless things as a price in exchange for use that power. In the city around the gates of hell in Japan, District 4 Police Chief Misaki Kirihara clashes with a legendary assassin possessing the power of the star BK201, the black death, in the underworld called Hei, he and his teammates join in quests assigned by a mysterious and brutal Organization while gradually revealing the true human plan.
