Summary: Valkyria Chronicles, as well as the game version, is set in 1935 in Europa (essentially the imaginary version of Europe at that time). Gallia, a neutral land, due to its abundant ragnite mines, was invaded by the Eastern European imperialist alliance. Before that action, the Atlantic Federation, which had long intended to occupy Gallia, and was at that time at war with the Eastern European imperialist alliance, also decided to attack this small country. When the imperialist coalition attacked the town near the Bruhl border of Gallia, Welkin Gunther, son of the late Shogun Belgen Gunther, was forced to stand up to fight with the captain of the town's defense, Alicia Melchiott. Together with Welkin's adopted sister Isara Gunther, the three fled to Gallia's capital and joined the army. As members of the newly formed unit - Team 7 - they shoulder the responsibility of fighting to the end and discovering the true purpose of the invasion.
